LOOKING FOR A RURAL RENTAL This may be a slightly unusual wanted post, but I’m hoping the right person might read it and think, “Actually, we might have something that could work.” I’m looking for a long-term rural home for myself and my young daughter, who lives with me 50% of the time, ideally on a farm, smallholding, estate or similar setting. I’m not necessarily looking for a conventional house. I’d be very interested in something that perhaps isn’t normally advertised as a permanent rental, such as: • A small cottage or bungalow • An annexe • A former holiday cottage/holiday let that could become a longer-term home • A converted barn/building • A static/mobile home in an appropriate setting What matters to me far more than having a big or perfect house is finding somewhere safe, rural and long-term where we can spend more time outdoors. Ideally, I’d love a little outside space where I could grow vegetables, keep my daughters WPB pony, and have access to a shed/outbuilding for storing my work equipment. WHAT I CAN OFFER IN RETURN I’m a self-employed professional arborist and very practical, so I would also be interested in discussing an arrangement where some help around the property could form part of the agreement. Depending on what was needed, I could potentially help with: • Tree work and general land/grounds maintenance • Fencing and repairs • Hedge and vegetation management • Feeding and checking livestock/horses • General farm/smallholding jobs • Keeping an eye on the property and animals when owners are away • Being a reliable presence on a rural property I’m not looking for somewhere for free – I am looking to rent and would be very happy to discuss a sensible arrangement combining rent with practical help if that suited the owner. I know there are lots of farms and smallholdings with an old cottage, annexe, former holiday let, static, barn or other space that may not necessarily be used or advertised on the normal rental market, which is why I thought
