4 Welsh Sec C Gelding. 10yr 13.1 Chesnut Post I’ve been putting off please share! Advert on horsequest too. A handsome, eye-catching boy with flashy paces who absolutely loves to show off. He thrives on having a job to do and enjoys being the centre of attention. No novices. Stan would suit a competent teenager or small adult who enjoys a forward-going, fun ride and appreciates the typical cheeky Welsh personality. Stan has successfully competed with me in both ridden and in-hand showing, achieving 2nd at County level and qualifying for the NPS Champs. Has - Synod & Menai lines. As a youngster (before being backed/me owning), he was consistently successful in the show ring. Since then, he has competed in WH, SJ & dressage, as well as cross-country schooling, which he absolutely loved. He has a bold, careful jump and naturally takes you confidently into a fence. I genuinely think he is made to jump! I was pursuing WH but circumstances changed. On the flat, he has lovely established schooling and eye-catching movement, but he does need a rider who understands how to continue his education. Stan hacks both alone and in company. He can occasionally be nappy at the beginning of a ride, so he needs a confident rider who won’t be fazed, but once going he’s a pleasure. He’s happily hacked through woods, rivers, open fields, over logs and banks, on busy roads with lorries and buses, and is used to riding with dogs. He rides and leads, is happy to be led, stands for mounting and dismounting, opens gates, and has never bolted. He always comes back to you when asked. Around the yard, once he knows you Stan is affectionate and loves attention. He’ll happily stand for hours being groomed and fussed over. Like many Welsh ponies, he can pull funny faces over his stable door, especially at dinner time, but it’s all for show! He’s easy to muck out around, change rugs on, and is gentle with my two-year-old son. He is clever though, and if allowed he’ll test his boundaries, so he needs someone who is kind but consistent. Perfect to clip, vet, load, travel, stands still at shows. Been to stay away shows no bother. Can be left in & out on his own. Currently kept with my other horse but not bothered when he goes. Barefoot with great feet. Up to date on trimming, vacs, teeth, worming, physio. Stan had gastric ulcers over 3/4 years ago, which were successfully treated with no recurrence. He also had one stifle injected over three years ago, again with no further issues, which our vet believes was linked to the ulcer episode. Full vet history is available, and any vetting is welcomed. I’ve owned Stan for the last five years, and this is an incredibly difficult decision made purely due to changing personal circumstances after having my son. Because of this, he hasn’t competed as much over the past two years, but he’s fit, healthy and ready for someone to enjoy him. This is a genuine, heartbreaking sale of a much-loved pony, so a 5 home is absolutely essential.
