"Ballycullane Jack (Bally) " Grey Gelding All Rounder

UPDATE: Currently moving Bally back to a livery yard where he will be under full work from his break in this field.

Bally is a 16.2hh 13 year old ISH. This is a heartbreaking sale but the reality is that I have no time to ride him to his full potential anymore so he is currently being wasted. He is a wonderful, talented horse that would make someone extremely happy.

Well what to say about him.. he is absolutely gorgeous to look at, my friends always said he looks like a horse you would get in the Barbie toy sets, he loves a groom and is extremely affectionate. He is the first over in the field to say hello and follows you around like a puppy while you poo pick.

To ride, Bally is very talented. I broke him in when he was imported from Ireland at 5 and a half years old. He was then turned away and brought slowly back in so we really took our time with him to allow him to mature. He is NOT A NOVICE RIDE as although he has never bucked, reared, bronced or bolted, when at full fitness, he is a powerhouse to jump. Bally will pull you into any fence and needs an experienced rider to ride those bigger fences to his full potential as he will flattern body wise if you allow him to charge at it like he is going into war. Works nicely on the bit to the leg, he is very much sensitive leg wise, you do not need to kick him, just simply ask, his aids are all very light, another reason why he is not suitable for a novice.

Used to hack solo around the farm we were on and hacked out on the roads with others. I am not sure how he would be on the road by himself although he is very level headed. He is great to take for a gallop out as you really need to push him to get him past a steady canter and then he pulls straight up when needed.

Absolute dream to lunge. Fine for the farrier. Gentleman to handle on the ground.

His only real downside is clipping. His coat has always remained extremely short throughout the year, he has a lovely summer coat so have only clipped him a handful of times since owning him. When we have clipped him, we have always sedated him as he gets a bit nervous. In the last few years of working him, I have just never bothered clipping wise due to his coat being so short. He does require to be rugged up in the winter as lack of coat means he will lose weight if too cold.

Has lived out in mixed herds so fine with mares. Also was stabled overnight most of his life with us so again not stressy with any environment.

Open to any vetting and also happy to provide full vet history for him. Never had any issues medically apart from one time with ulcers, this was caused by a saddler who fitted (I use that term loosely) a saddle which was completely unfit for purpose. We immediately got rid of the saddle (and saddler), treated under vet care and he was back to himself in no time and that was when he was 7. Never had any issues since then, apart from the odd cut.

Never competed but been to clinics, clear rounds, arena hires etc. Loads in a loading headcollar perfectly, travels like a dream, he does get slightly sweaty but other then that an angel.
