Colombian Tetra Large Colombian Tetra – Hyphessobrycon columbianus are a peaceful shoaling species from Colombia. They are one of the larger tetra species, which makes them great candidates for larger aquaria with peaceful cichlids and other larger fish that would eat smaller shoalers. These fish are often overlooked in shops as they may appear quite drab as juveniles, but once they settle, they colour up to reveal an iridescent blue stripe all the way down the spine and bright red fins, making them one of the most interesting fish in the aquarium. Does anyone have a few Congo tetras they wouldn't mind rehoming please, we have 5 unfortunately I made a mistake and bought a hidey hole ornament that is kinda top heavy for on top of sand, thought nothing of it as it never moved, until I went to clean algae off the back of the tank and accidentally slightly knocked it. Found a dead Congo inside, they're only small atm. Lesson now learned, ornament permanently taken out. So if anyone has any they'd be willing to re-home so I can make them a shoal and feel more secure I'd be so grateful thanks Pic of culprit See less
