Squirrel (racing name Above Board) is a 14-year-old, 17.2hh Thoroughbred gelding looking for a loving, knowledgeable home on Full Loan. He is a retired racehorse who enjoyed a successful career and has since turned his hoof to a more relaxed lifestyle.
Squirrel is a kind, affectionate horse with a big personality. He can test boundaries initially, but once he knows and trusts you, he is incredibly soft and rewarding to work with. He thrives with a calm, confident and patient handler who will give him time to build a partnership.
He is a lovely ride with excellent voice aids and has never shown any naughty behaviour. He schools nicely and enjoys his work. He can jump and, although he may occasionally try to convince you otherwise, he really enjoys it once he gets going!
He is happy to hack alone, where he is at his best. In company he can be a little excitable (or lazy and wants to go home) so would suit a confident rider who can guide him through this.
Squirrel is easy to have around and can be left for periods without issue, remaining sensible when brought back into work. He is currently only shod in front and is generally straightforward, although he does benefit from a patient farrier.
He is good to do in most ways, with a few minor quirks such as not standing well at the mounting block (currently being worked on).

Looking for:
An experienced, confident rider (no novices)
Someone kind, patient and consistent who will love him almost as much as I do!!
A knowledgeable home where he will be treated as part of the family

Loan terms: Full loan preferred at current yard (option to move considered for the right home within a reasonable distance so I can still visit him for cuddles because he is my baby).
Rider MUST be 14 stone or under.
This is a very special horse looking for the right person to build a genuine partnership with.
